No. Hydraulic oil and compressor oil are formulated for different operating conditions and are not interchangeable. Hydraulic oil does not have the thermal stability and air/oil separation properties required by air compressors. Always use the product type and grade specified by the equipment manufacturer.
Not always. General-purpose hydraulic oil is suitable for many standalone hydraulic systems but may not be appropriate for tractor hydraulic circuits that also serve wet brakes or transmission functions. Where a tractor manufacturer specifies a UTTO or STOU fluid, that product should be used rather than a standard hydraulic oil. Contact the Gem Oils team to confirm the correct product for your equipment.
