Concrete & Precast Production
Products for plant and equipment used in concrete and precast operations, including hydraulic systems, gear drives, mobile equipment and suitable mould-release applications.
Forestry & Timber Processing
Lubricants for sawmill, timber-processing and related machinery, covering hydraulic systems, bearings, gearboxes, chains and other equipment applications.
Material Handling & Warehousing
Products for forklifts, lifting equipment, conveyors, loading systems and other machinery used across warehouses, distribution centres and production facilities.
Food & Beverage Processing
Lubricants and maintenance products for appropriate applications within food and beverage production environments. Where incidental food contact is possible, the lubricant must carry the appropriate registration or approval for the intended application.
General Industry & Maintenance
A broad range for routine lubrication and maintenance requirements across workshops, production sites, engineering facilities and industrial equipment.
Choosing the Right Industrial Lubricant
Industrial lubricant selection is determined by the system, the operating conditions, and the manufacturer’s specification — not by a general category. The viscosity grade and performance level required for a hydraulic press, a rotary compressor, and a CNC machine tool are different, even if all three are described as “industrial”. Using the wrong product can cause seal damage, accelerated component wear, deposit build-up, or process contamination.
The correct starting point is always the equipment manufacturer’s specification or service manual. The table below gives a general guide to the main product categories and their typical applications in industrial use.

|
Why Specification Matters
|
|---|
|
Wrong hydraulic viscosity causes internal leakage, sluggish response, and accelerated pump and seal wear
|
|
High-volatility compressor oil causes deposit build-up in valve ports and discharge lines
|
|
Incorrect cutting fluid dilution reduces tool life and surface finish quality
|
|
Wrong mould release oil can stain or contaminate concrete finishes and void product standards
|
|
Using a standard grease where a PTFE or food-grade product is required creates process risk

The Gem Oils Difference for Industrial
Three reasons Irish manufacturers, engineering companies, and processing operations have been ordering from Gem Oils since 1962.
Direct Industrial Technical Support
We do not use call centres or generic product finders. When you contact Gem Oils with a lubrication question about your hydraulic system, compressor, machine tool, or process equipment, you speak directly to someone who can confirm the correct product, viscosity, and grade for your specific application.
Specification Accuracy
Every product in our industrial range states the specifications and performance levels it meets — ISO, DIN, and manufacturer standards where applicable. You can specify correctly for your equipment and process without ambiguity.
Nationwide Supply Across Ireland
Supply from our Cavan base to manufacturing plants, engineering facilities, and industrial operations across all 32 counties. Drum, IBC, and bulk delivery with a company-owned transport fleet. ISO 9001:2015 certified. Family-owned since 1962.

Industrial Lubricants FAQs
Practical answers to questions that can arise when storing, changing and managing lubricants across an industrial site.
The effect depends on the products involved, the quantities mixed and the application. Different additive systems or lubricant types may not be compatible. If significant cross-contamination is suspected, avoid assuming the equipment can continue operating normally and check the equipment and lubricant manufacturer guidance before taking further action.
Keep containers sealed and correctly labelled, use clean dispensing equipment and avoid sharing pumps, funnels or transfer containers between incompatible products. Storage areas should also protect lubricants from water, dirt and other contaminants.
Follow the equipment manufacturer’s recommended service interval where one is specified. Actual lubricant condition can also be affected by operating temperature, contamination, workload and environment. Some applications may use oil analysis or condition monitoring to support maintenance decisions.
Potentially. Product rationalisation can reduce storage and handling complexity where one lubricant genuinely meets the requirements of several applications. Each equipment requirement should be checked before products are consolidated; similar viscosity alone is not sufficient.
Not automatically. ISO VG identifies the viscosity range of the oil but does not confirm that two products have the same performance characteristics, additive system or equipment suitability. The manufacturer’s required performance specification should also be checked before changing products.
