The most common source of incorrect lubricant use on farms is the assumption that all tractor oils are interchangeable. They are not. The distinction between UTTO and STOU, and between these and a dedicated engine oil, matters — and using the wrong oil can damage wet brake systems, reduce hydraulic performance, or void the manufacturer’s warranty.
